Buddies,

Bfore there was a Joey Polanski Show in th blogassfear — and I think I may a-toldjas, in a past post ovr at th Show, that there HAS been a Polanski Show, in some form & forum or othr, since as far back as 1975 — th Man Bhind th Curtain was talkd by a friend inta tryin his hand at bloggin. It was, ocourse, that initial THRILL o creatin a FIRST blogski — that sense o how EASY it was, and that feelin o gratifickation in seein yerself reflecktd in cybrspace — that led, rathr promply, to th creation o th blogassfearick version of th Polanski Show that yas all know & loveski.

This post aint a rehash o th awready-tolt story bout how th JPS began as a gag that might be found, and coud only REALY be undrstood, by my brothr Piet; and how it soon became sompm intended fer a widr readrship of a appropriately squirrely variety. Nor is it intended as a post about that pre-JPS blogski startd way back when by th Man Bhind th Curtain. Its about a incident that occurrd right afttr that pre-JPS blogski was startd, some more recent events, and th thougts prvoked by em.

Th Man Bhind th Curtain dint know what to expeckt when he first took to bloggin. And so he was kinda srprisd when almost instantly aftr launchin that blogski, a coupla coments was postd on th intrducktory post. Naturaly, th Man Bhind th Curtain was curious about th fokes who so promply discoverd that blog; and so he followd th bloggers Blogger profiles back to thei blogskis. One o them coments came from a chick who was doin th standard chick-thing — a diary blog about this & that. She & her blog aint what promptd th writin o this post. It was th blog writ by th othr prson who chimd in on th first post evr publishd by th Man Bhind th Curtain.

That othr bloggr was a guy who startd his blog when he found out he had ALS (also known as Lou Gehrigs Disease), and th prpose o his blogski was to chronickle th progress o th disease. Now, fer those o yous who dont know, ALS is just about AWWAYS fatal; and so when I say th prpose o th guys blogski was to chronickle th progress o th disease, I mean it was to chronickle th final decline o th guy imself.

Now, ocourse, this aint th kind o blogski that ya coment on — unless, I sppose, yer a close friend o th guy, or a membr of his famly. I mean, whaddr ya gonna say about a post reportin th latest reduction in th poor guys grip-strennth, ya know? So th Man Bhind th Curtain bookmarkd th blogski, but nevr commentd on it; and, as th Mans bloggin energys was transferrd from that pre-JPS blogski to th JPS itself — where cooprative shtick was one o th principl aims — he visitd that guys blogski less & less.

Well, recently there been cause to revisit lotsa old bookmarkd sites, and th Man Bhind th Curtain learnt that this ol fella — (atchualy, he was sompm of a young fella) — finaly passd. At some point, a trustd friend or famly membr took ovr th blogski; and, ocourse, th final post announcd th sad event. Seein this put me in mind of a guy I usta listn to on th radio back in th early 1990s — a guy namd Bob Lassiter, who was then doin a nighttime talk show on WLS outta Chicago. (My city bein right smack in th middle o th flat part o th country, I can pick up radio signals from all ovr th friggin place at night — from WBZ in Boston to some places in th Frisco area.) Anyhow, Mad Dog Lassiter dint last long at WLS and I always wonderd what happmd to im. So not too long ago, I was doin some Wiki-reserch and found out that th Mad Dog died not too long ago — of some kind o kidny ailment — and that his decline was more or less chronickld on a blog he maintaind.

So alla this has me wondrin: If you knew that yer final decline was beginnin — like you was expecktd to be deadski by some defnite point in th foreseeable future — woud you make this part o yer blogski?
